What this tool does

Automatic subject cut-out in the browser

A segmentation model runs on your device and separates the person or object from the background. It downloads once and is then cached.

Text that sits behind the subject

The text is drawn between the background and the cut-out subject, which is what produces the magazine-cover depth rather than a flat overlay.

Fonts, colour, size, rotation, opacity, spacing

Anton, Bebas Neue, Archivo Black, Oswald and Montserrat, each with a colour, size, rotation, opacity, letter spacing and weight.

Multiple text layers

Add as many text layers as you need, and duplicate, delete or reorder them with bring to front and send to back.

Drag to position on phone or desktop

Drag the text into position with a finger on a phone or the mouse on a desktop, and it stays behind the subject as you move it.

Export PNG

Export as a PNG at the resolution of the photo you started with, with no watermark.

Frequently asked questions

How does the text get behind the subject?

The tool finds the main subject of your photo and separates it from the background using an AI model that runs inside your browser. It then stacks three layers: your photo at the back, your text in the middle, and the cut-out subject on top. Where the subject and the text overlap, the subject covers the text, so the words look like they sit behind them.

Are my photos uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything happens on your own device. Your photo is never sent to a server. The first time you use the cut-out, a small AI model is downloaded so it can run locally, after that it works offline.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes, it is built mobile first. Pick or snap a photo, drag the text with your finger, tweak the sliders, and export a PNG straight from your phone. Big photos are scaled down automatically so your phone does not run out of memory.

What if the cut-out does not work on my image?

It works best on photos with a clear subject, like a portrait. If the AI cannot load or the subject is hard to separate, the editor still works as a text on photo tool, your text just sits on top instead of behind.
