Add Border to Image lets you put a frame or border around any image entirely in your browser, with nothing uploaded. Choose the border thickness and colour, round the corners, pick a Polaroid style, or fit the photo to a square or other social size, then download the result as PNG or JPEG at full quality.

Files are processed in your browser and never uploaded.

How to use Add a border to an image

  1. Add your file

Drop your image file onto the upload area, or tap the area to choose it from your device.

  2. Run it

Press Download, Don →. The button stays disabled until there is something to work on, and each file shows its own progress and result.

  3. Save the result

Press Download, Don →. Each finished file keeps a name based on the one you started with, so you can tell the versions apart.

What this tool does

Adjustable border thickness and colour

Thickness is a slider and the colour is a picker, so a hairline keyline and a thick white mount are both a couple of seconds away.

Rounded corners

Round the corners of the frame by any amount, from a slight softening to a fully rounded card.

Polaroid style frame

Polaroid style keeps the border even on three sides and deeper at the bottom, the way an instant print looks.

Fit to square or social sizes

Fit to reframes the photo to Original, Square 1:1, Portrait 4:5, Story 9:16 or Wide 16:9, which covers what the social apps expect.

Export PNG or JPEG, nothing uploaded

Save as PNG to keep it lossless or JPEG for a smaller file. The photo is drawn and saved by your browser and never uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Are my images uploaded when I add a border?

No. The border is drawn onto your image entirely in your browser on your device, so nothing is uploaded and it works offline.

How do I add a white border for Instagram?

Set Fit to Square (1:1) and choose white. Your photo is padded with an even white border so it fills a square post without cropping. Portrait 4:5 and Story 9:16 are there too.

Can I round the corners?

Yes. The Corners slider rounds both the outer frame and the photo inside it, from a soft radius up to a full pill. PNG keeps the outer corners transparent, JPEG fills them with white.

What is the Polaroid style?

It adds an even border with a thicker strip along the bottom, like a classic instant photo, leaving room for a caption.

Will the quality stay the same?

Yes. The border is drawn at your image's full resolution, so the download stays full quality with the frame added around it.
