Frequently asked questions
Can it convert 100 images at once?
Yes, up to 100 per batch. Everything runs on your device, so a big batch depends on your computer's memory and speed. On older phones or low-memory devices, very large or very many images may slow down, so just do them in smaller groups.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything happens inside your browser, so your files never leave your device and nothing is sent to a server.
Which formats can I convert between?
Save to PNG, JPEG, WebP, BMP and GIF, plus AVIF when your browser supports it. Inputs include JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, TIFF, AVIF and SVG, plus HEIC and HEIF from iPhones. For HEIC and for GIF output a small helper loads automatically the first time you need it.
What happens to transparency when I save as JPEG, BMP or GIF?
Those formats are filled onto the background colour (white by default) because JPEG and BMP have no transparency and GIF support is kept simple here. PNG and WebP keep transparency. You can also tick Flatten to add a background on purpose.
Can it hit an exact file size, like 300 KB?
Yes. Tick Target size and set the KB. For JPEG, WebP and AVIF it searches the quality to fit under your target, and for any format it can also shrink the dimensions until it fits. Handy for forms and uploads with strict limits.
Will converting lose quality?
PNG and BMP are lossless. JPEG, WebP and AVIF use the quality slider, trading a little detail for much smaller files. GIF is limited to 256 colours, so photos may look posterised, while logos and flat graphics stay crisp.
