Pixelate or Blur a Region lets you hide part of an image entirely in your browser with nothing uploaded. Drag a box over a face, some text, a number plate or any detail, choose pixelate or blur and a strength, then apply. You can cover several areas and the pixels are genuinely replaced before you download the result as a PNG or JPEG.

Files are processed in your browser and never uploaded.

How to use Pixelate or blur a region

  1. Add your file

Drop your image file onto the upload area, or tap the area to choose it from your device.

  2. Run it

Press Save image, Don →. The button stays disabled until there is something to work on, and each file shows its own progress and result.

  3. Save the result

Press Save image, Don →. Each finished file keeps a name based on the one you started with, so you can tell the versions apart.

What this tool does

Drag a box over any area to hide it

Drag a box over a face, a number plate or an address and the area inside it is obscured.

Pixelate or blur, with adjustable strength

Choose pixelate, blur or a solid black bar, and set the block or brush size so the strength suits the detail you are hiding.

Cover several areas one after another

Cover as many areas as you need one after another, so a photo with several faces takes one pass rather than several.

Genuinely replaces the pixels, not an overlay

The pixels are actually replaced in the exported file. It is not an overlay that can be peeled off or undone by a viewer.

Runs in your browser, nothing uploaded

The image is edited and saved by your browser, so the original, unredacted photo never leaves your device.

Frequently asked questions

Is my image uploaded?

No. The image is processed entirely in your browser, so it never leaves your device, which matters when you are hiding private details.

What can I hide?

Anything you draw over, such as a face, a name, a number plate, an address or any text. Use a box, a circle or the freehand brush, and choose pixelate, blur or a solid black bar.

Can I cover more than one area, or undo one?

Yes. Add as many covers as you like, all on the same image. Switch to the Select tool to click any cover and move or delete it, or use Undo to remove the last one. Each cover stays editable until you save.

Does it really remove the detail?

Yes, the pixels in that area are genuinely replaced, so the hidden detail is gone from the saved image, not just covered by an overlay.

Which formats can I save?

PNG to keep maximum quality, or JPEG for a smaller file.
