Add a header & footer
Put a header, footer or page numbers on every page of a PDF, keeping it sharp and selectable.
Files are processed in your browser and never uploaded.
How to use Add a header & footer
Add your file
Drop your PDF file onto the upload area, or tap the area to choose it from your device.
Run it
Press New file. The button stays disabled until there is something to work on, and each file shows its own progress and result.
Save the result
Press Download PDF. Each finished file keeps a name based on the one you started with, so you can tell the versions apart.
What this tool does
A header and footer on every page
Add a header band, a footer band or both, and they are applied across the whole document rather than page by page.
Text that stays sharp and selectable
The header and footer are drawn as real PDF text, not stamped as an image, so the file stays searchable and prints cleanly.
Runs fully in your browser with no upload and no sign-up
The PDF is opened, edited and written by your browser, so a document with client or personal details in it is never uploaded.
Frequently asked questions
Are my PDFs uploaded?
No. The header and footer are added in your browser on your device, so the file is never uploaded and it works offline.
Can I add automatic page numbers?
Yes. Use {page} and {pages} in the text, for example Page {page} of {pages}, or click Insert page numbers to fill it in for you. You can also use {date} for today's date.
Does it keep the PDF sharp and selectable?
Yes. The text is drawn directly onto the existing pages, so the document stays crisp and the original text remains selectable, unlike tools that flatten the page to an image.
Can I control where the text appears?
Yes. Set the header and footer independently to the left, centre or right, and adjust the font size, margin from the edge, and colour.
What if my PDF is password protected?
Open it or remove the password first. This tool edits the page content, so it needs an unprotected PDF.
