Frequently asked questions
Are these the exact rates my bank will give me?
No. They are indicative mid-market rates from a public source, shown for guidance. Banks apply their own buying and selling (TT and OD) rates with margins, so your actual rate will differ. Check your bank or the Central Bank of Sri Lanka for a real transaction.
Where do the rates come from?
They are fetched live from ExchangeRate-API, a public exchange-rate service, each time you open or refresh the page.
Why can it not show a specific bank's rates?
Individual Sri Lankan banks do not offer a free public data feed that a browser can read directly, so a client-side tool cannot pull live per-bank buying and selling rates. This shows indicative rates instead.
Is my amount or data uploaded?
No. The conversion happens in your browser. Only the public rate list is fetched; nothing you type is sent anywhere.
Which currencies are included?
Major currencies that Sri Lankans commonly deal with, including the US Dollar, Euro, Pound, Indian Rupee, and Gulf currencies, all shown against the Sri Lankan Rupee.
