Frequently asked questions
Is my text uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser with nothing uploaded, so your text stays private and it works offline.
Why does the result look like English letters here?
Legacy fonts like DL-Manel-bold store Sinhala glyphs on ordinary keyboard characters. The converted text is correct legacy code, but it only shows as Sinhala once the DL-Manel-bold font is applied, which is not installed on this page.
How do I use the converted text?
Copy it, paste it into your document, newspaper layout or design app, select the pasted text, and set its font to DL-Manel-bold. The Sinhala will then appear correctly.
Which legacy font does this target?
DL-Manel-bold, one of the most common legacy Sinhala fonts in print and design. The mapping is based on the well-known University of Colombo (UCSC) converter scheme.
Will every character convert perfectly?
Common letters, vowel signs and conjuncts convert reliably. A few rare or unusual combinations may need a manual touch-up, so check important text after pasting it into the DL-Manel-bold font.
