QR code scanner
Scan a QR code with your camera or read one from a photo, all in your browser. See the result instantly, copy it, or open the link, with nothing uploaded.
Files are processed in your browser and never uploaded.
How to use QR code scanner
Add your file
Drop your image file onto the upload area, or tap the area to choose it from your device.
Run it
Press Start scanning, Don →. The button stays disabled until there is something to work on, and each file shows its own progress and result.
Start over any time
Nothing is saved on a server, so reloading the page clears everything.
What this tool does
Scan live with your camera
Start the camera and hold a code in front of it. The result appears as soon as it is read, with no shutter button to press.
Or read a QR code from a photo or screenshot
If the code is in a screenshot or a photo you were sent, upload the image instead and it is decoded the same way.
Reads links, text, Wi-Fi and more
Links, plain text, Wi-Fi credentials, contact cards and phone numbers are all recognised and shown in a readable form.
Copy the result or open a link directly
Copy the result to the clipboard, or open a link directly, with the destination shown first so you can see where it goes.
Nothing uploaded, no app to install
The camera feed and the image are both handled in your browser. Nothing is uploaded and there is no app to install.
Frequently asked questions
Is the image or scan uploaded anywhere?
No. Both the camera scanning and image reading happen entirely in your browser. No photo, video or scanned content is ever sent to a server.
How do I scan a code?
Use Scan with camera and point your device at a QR code, or switch to Upload image and choose a photo or screenshot that contains one. The result appears as soon as a code is read.
It found a link, is it safe to open?
The scanner only reads what the code contains and shows it to you first. Always check a link looks expected before opening it, since a QR code can point anywhere, just like any link.
Why will my camera not start?
You need to allow camera permission, and no other app can be using the camera at the same time. If the camera is unavailable, the Upload image option works without it.
What kinds of codes can it read?
It reads standard QR codes, including links, text, Wi-Fi details and contact info. For striped product barcodes you would need a barcode reader instead.
