Mute Video is a free batch tool that removes the audio track from your videos entirely in your browser, with nothing uploaded. It copies the video stream without re-encoding, so there is no quality loss and it is fast, and the muted file keeps the original format such as MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV. You can mute up to 500 videos at once, watch each one's progress, and download them individually or together in a single zip. It uses fast device-based processing through WebCodecs where possible and falls back to a built-in engine that downloads about 31 MB the first time.

Files are processed in your browser and never uploaded.

How to use Mute video

  1. Add your files

Drop up to 500 video files onto the upload area, or tap the area to choose them from your device.

  2. Set the options

Choose Engine. Every setting is on screen before you add a file, so you can see what the tool will do before it runs.

  3. Run it and save

Press Mute them, Don →. The button stays disabled until there is something to work on, and each file shows its own progress and result. Press Download all (zip), Don. Each finished file keeps a name based on the one you started with, so you can tell the versions apart.

What this tool does

Remove audio from up to 500 videos at once

Add up to 500 videos, each up to 1 GB, and the audio track is removed from every one of them in a single run.

Keeps full video quality (no re-encoding)

The video stream is copied across untouched, so there is no re-encoding and no loss of quality at all.

Keeps the original format (MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV)

MP4, MOV, WebM and MKV come out in the format they went in as, so nothing further down the line has to change.

Fast device engine with a compatible fallback

The fast engine uses your device's own decoder, with a built-in fallback for the files it cannot handle, so unusual formats still work.

Download each file or all as a zip

Take each muted file on its own, or the whole batch as a single zip.

No upload, no sign-up

Everything happens in your browser, so a 1 GB video is never uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

How many videos can I mute, and will my device handle it?

You can add up to 500 videos at once. Muting is light because the video is copied rather than re-encoded, but everything runs on your device and each finished file is held in memory, so a large batch of big files can still slow down or crash the tab. On a phone or an older machine, do a smaller batch at a time.

Are my videos uploaded anywhere?

No. The audio is stripped out inside your browser on your device, and the videos are never sent to a server.

Does muting reduce the video quality?

No. The picture is copied across untouched (no re-encoding), so the video stays exactly the same quality and the file is just a little smaller without the audio. It is also very fast for the same reason.

What formats can I mute?

Most common video files including MP4, MOV, WebM and MKV. The muted file keeps the same format as the original, so an MP4 stays an MP4.

What are the two engines?

Fast mode copies the video on your device with no download. Compatible mode uses a built-in engine that handles more unusual files but downloads about 31 MB the first time and is slower. It picks automatically, and you can override the choice.

Can I download them all at once?

Yes. Each muted video has its own download button, and once more than one is done you can grab them all together in a single zip.
