Convert Video is a free tool that converts video files to MP4, WebM, MKV or MOV entirely in your browser, with nothing uploaded. MP4, WebM and MOV re-encode the video, while MKV losslessly repackages the existing streams when the codecs are compatible. You can convert up to 100 videos at once and download each result or all of them as a zip.

Files are processed in your browser and never uploaded.

How to use Convert video

  1. Add your files

Drop up to 100 video files onto the upload area, or tap the area to choose them from your device.

  2. Set the options

Choose Convert to. Every setting is on screen before you add a file, so you can see what the tool will do before it runs.

  3. Run it and save

Press Convert them, Don →. The button stays disabled until there is something to work on, and each file shows its own progress and result. Press Download all (zip), Don. Each finished file keeps a name based on the one you started with, so you can tell the versions apart.

What this tool does

Convert to MP4, WebM, MKV or MOV

Convert to MP4 (H.264), WebM, MKV or MOV, which covers what editors, players and upload forms actually accept.

Batch up to 100 videos

Add up to 100 videos, each up to 1 GB, and the batch is converted one after another with its own progress.

Runs in your browser, nothing uploaded

Everything is decoded and encoded by your browser, so nothing is uploaded no matter how large the files are.

Lossless remux to MKV when possible

Converting to MKV repacks the existing streams where it can, so the file changes container with no quality loss and very little waiting.

Download each or all as a zip

Take each converted video on its own, or the whole batch as a single zip.

Frequently asked questions

Are my videos uploaded anywhere?

No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser on your device, and your videos are never sent to a server.

Which formats can I convert between?

You can convert most common videos to MP4, WebM, MKV or MOV. MP4 with H.264 is the most widely compatible for sharing and playback.

Does converting reduce quality?

Converting to MP4, WebM or MOV re-encodes the video, which can slightly change quality and size depending on the settings. Converting to MKV simply repackages the existing streams, so it is fast and lossless when the codecs are compatible.

Why is it slow on big files?

All the work happens on your device using a built-in engine that downloads about 31 MB the first time. Re-encoding video is heavy, so large files and phones can be slow. Try one file at a time if needed.

How many can I convert at once?

Up to 100 videos, each up to 1 GB. Each finished file is held in memory, so a big batch can strain the tab; do smaller batches on modest devices.
