How to use Personal Money Manager
Add your file
Drop your JSON file onto the upload area, or tap the area to choose it from your device.
Set the options
Choose Period. Every setting is on screen before you add a file, so you can see what the tool will do before it runs.
Run it and save
Press + Add transaction. The button stays disabled until there is something to work on, and each file shows its own progress and result. Press Save, Don →. Each finished file keeps a name based on the one you started with, so you can tell the versions apart.
What this tool does
Accounts and balances
Each account has its own type, colour and opening balance, and the balances move as you record transactions against them.
Income, expense and transfer tracking
Income, expense and transfer are separate kinds of entry, so moving money between your own accounts does not show up as spending.
Monthly budgets per category
Set a monthly budget per category and the dashboard shows how much of each is left, rather than only what has gone.
Savings goals
A savings goal holds a target and what you have put aside so far, so progress sits next to the day-to-day numbers.
Spending dashboard
The dashboard totals balance, income, spending and net for the period you choose, from this month to a custom date range.
Export and import JSON backup
Export writes a JSON file with everything in it and Import restores it, which is both the backup and the way to move devices.
Frequently asked questions
Is my financial data private?
Yes. Accounts, transactions, budgets and goals are stored in this browser on this device only. There is no account, no server and no bank connection, so nothing can be uploaded.
How do I back it up or move to a new phone?
Press Export to save a JSON file with everything in it, then Import that file on the new device. A CSV export is also there if you want your transactions in a spreadsheet.
Can I connect my bank account?
No, and that is deliberate. Bank connections need a server and your credentials. Entries are added by hand or imported from a CSV, which is what keeps the data on your device.
How do transfers between accounts work?
A transfer moves money from one account to another without counting as income or expense, so your spending totals stay correct and both balances update.
What happens if I clear my browser data?
Everything on this page goes with it. That is why the export exists. Save a backup file somewhere safe if the history matters to you.
