What this tool does
Every assignment listed
Add each assignment by name so the working is readable, rather than a single averaged number you cannot check.
Scores as percentages
Enter what you scored as a percentage and the current grade updates as you type.
Weighted properly
Each assignment carries its own weight, so a 10 percent quiz and a 40 percent project affect the total by the right amount.
Points earned, when that is the system
Where a course is marked in points rather than percentages, enter the points and the weighting still works out correctly.
The final exam's share
Final exam weight is set separately, because it is usually the one piece of the grade you still have any control over.
Runs fully in your browser with no upload and no sign-up
Your grades stay in your browser. Nothing is uploaded and there is no sign-up.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate my weighted grade?
Multiply each assignment score by its weight (as a decimal), then sum them all. For example: homework 85% ร 0.20 weight = 17 points; midterm 78% ร 0.30 = 23.4 points; project 90% ร 0.50 = 45 points. Total: 17 + 23.4 + 45 = 85.4%. This calculator does all that automatically.
What grade do I need on my final to pass?
Use the "What do I need on my final?" tool above. Enter your current grade, the weight of your final exam, and your target grade. The formula is: Required final score = (Target grade โ Current grade ร (1 โ Final weight)) รท Final weight. If you need over 100%, you cannot mathematically reach your target.
What is the standard US letter grade scale?
A: 90-100%, B: 80-89%, C: 70-79%, D: 60-69%, F: below 60%. Some schools use +/โ grades with tighter ranges. Grades below 70% are generally considered passing for high school; colleges often require a 70% or C for major requirements. Check your syllabus for the exact scale used in your class.
