How to use Blackboard for smart boards
Add your file
Drop your JSON file onto the upload area, or tap the area to choose it from your device.
Set the options
Choose Slider and Thickness. Every setting is on screen before you add a file, so you can see what the tool will do before it runs.
Run it and save
Press □ Shapes ▾. The button stays disabled until there is something to work on, and each file shows its own progress and result. Press Export. Each finished file keeps a name based on the one you started with, so you can tell the versions apart.
What this tool does
Realistic chalk texture in any colour
The chalk has a real grain to it and comes in any colour, with soft chalk and smooth settings when you want a different feel.
Duster eraser and full wipe
The duster rubs out a patch the way a real one does, and a full wipe clears the board when you are ready to start again.
Lines, arrows, rectangles, ellipses, triangles with fill
Draw lines, arrows, rectangles, ellipses and triangles, filled or outlined, so a diagram does not have to be freehand.
Ruled lines, grid, graph, dots, music staff and coordinate guides
Turn on ruled lines, a grid, graph paper, dots, a music staff or coordinate axes, so the board suits the subject you are teaching.
Multiple boards, duplicate and delete
Keep several boards in one session, duplicate one to build on it, and delete the ones you have finished with.
Undo and redo
Undo and redo step back and forward through your strokes, so a slip does not cost you the whole board.
Frequently asked questions
Is it free and private?
Yes. It is free with no sign-up and runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you write is uploaded, and your boards stay on your device.
Does it work on a smart board or touch display?
Yes, it is built for touch. Write with a finger or a pen, and extra touches are ignored so a resting palm does not draw. Tap Fullscreen to fill the whole display.
What tools are inside the menus?
The Shapes menu has lines, arrows, rectangles, ellipses, triangles and a fill option. The Board menu holds backgrounds, guides, and add, duplicate, delete and clear. The Tools menu holds a timer, spotlight, screen shade, dice and insert image.
Can I save what I wrote?
Yes. Press Save to download the current board as a PNG image to share or print. You can keep several boards open and switch between them.
How do I erase?
Choose the Duster to rub out part of the board, or use Clear in the Board menu to wipe the whole board. Undo and Redo are there if you change your mind.
