Frequently asked questions
Where are my notes saved?
Your notes are saved only in this browser on this device, using local storage. Nothing is uploaded to a server, so they stay private to you. Use Download or Backup to keep copies elsewhere.
Can I keep more than one note?
Yes. Use the plus button to create as many notes as you like. They appear in the list on the left, where you can search them, switch between them, duplicate or delete them. Each note has its own title.
Will my notes still be here when I come back?
Yes, as long as you use the same browser on the same device and have not cleared your browsing data. This is not a backup though, so download important notes or use Backup all to save a single file of everything.
How do I change the look of the editor?
Press the Aa button for appearance settings: light, dark or sepia theme, a sans, serif or monospace font, four text sizes, line spacing, word wrap and spellcheck. Your choices are remembered on this device.
How does find and replace work?
Press Find or Ctrl-F to open the bar. Type what to find and press Next to jump to each match, or type a replacement and press Replace all. There is a case-sensitive option and a live match count.
What can I export?
Download the current note as plain text (.txt), Markdown (.md) or a styled HTML file, or use Backup all to export every note and your data as a single .json file that you can Import again later.
Are there handy shortcuts while typing?
Yes. Tab inserts spaces for indentation, pressing Enter inside a bullet or numbered list continues the list automatically, the Date button inserts the current date and time, Ctrl-S saves, Ctrl-F opens find, and Esc closes find or fullscreen.
What happens in a private or incognito window?
Everything works while the window is open, but private windows usually forget all stored data once closed, so your notes will not persist. Download anything you want to keep.
Is there a size limit?
Browser storage is limited, often a few megabytes total across all notes, which is plenty for writing but not for huge files. Very large notes may fail to save, so download long pieces.
