Sitemap.xml generator
Turn a list of URLs into a valid sitemap.xml, right in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
Files are processed in your browser and never uploaded.
How to use Sitemap.xml generator
Add your text
Type or paste your text into the input box. Everything is handled by your own browser, so nothing is sent to a server.
Set the options
Choose Change frequency, Priority and Add today's date as lastmod. The options are visible from the start, not hidden until you paste something.
Read it and keep a copy
The output updates as you type, so there is nothing to submit and nothing to wait for. Copy sitemap, Don puts the result on your clipboard and Download sitemap.xml saves it as a file.
What this tool does
Build sitemap.xml from a URL list
Paste a list of URLs, one per line, and a valid sitemap.xml is built around them with the right namespace and structure.
Optional lastmod, changefreq, priority
Add today's date as lastmod, and set changefreq and priority, or leave them out, which is perfectly valid and often better.
Validates each URL
Each URL is checked for a scheme and a host, so a typo or a relative path is caught before the file reaches a search engine.
Copy or download sitemap.xml
Copy the XML or download sitemap.xml ready to upload to your site root and submit in Search Console.
Works offline, no sign-up
The file is generated in your browser, so an unpublished site's URL list is never uploaded.
Frequently asked questions
Is anything uploaded?
No. The sitemap is built in your browser from the URLs you paste, with nothing uploaded. It works offline once loaded.
Why do I have to paste the URLs myself?
A web page in your browser cannot crawl another website because of browser security, so you list the URLs you want included. Paste them one per line.
What do changefreq and priority do?
They hint how often a page changes and how important it is relative to your other pages. Search engines treat them as soft hints, and modern crawlers may largely ignore them, so they are optional.
Where do I put the sitemap?
Save it as sitemap.xml in your site root and add a Sitemap line to your robots.txt, then submit it in Google Search Console so it is discovered quickly.
Is there a limit on URLs?
A single sitemap can hold up to 50,000 URLs and should stay under 50 MB. For larger sites, split it into several sitemaps and list them in a sitemap index.
