Knight Don Privacy Policy
Knight Don runs entirely inside your browser. It does not collect, sell, share, or transmit any of your data. There are no accounts, no tracking, and no analytics. Everything below explains exactly what the extension does and does not do.
Who this covers
This policy applies to the Knight Don browser extension ("Knight Don", "the extension"), published by Don's Tools. It does not cover third party websites you visit while using the extension.
What Knight Don stores
Knight Don saves your own preferences on your device using the browser's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local). This includes:
- Whether dark mode is on or off, and your brightness, contrast, sepia, and grayscale settings.
- Your automation choice (always on, follow system theme, or a schedule) and any schedule times.
- Your per-site include and exclude lists (the site names you add).
- A small local cache noting whether a site you visited already had a dark theme, so the extension can decide instantly on your next visit without re-checking.
All of this stays on your device. It is never sent to us or to anyone else. You can clear it at any time from the extension's advanced settings, or by removing the extension.
What Knight Don does not do
- It does not collect personal information such as your name, email, or location.
- It does not record your browsing history and send it anywhere.
- It does not read, store, or transmit the text, images, passwords, or form data on the pages you visit.
- It does not use analytics, advertising, or third party trackers.
- It does not sell or share any user data with anyone.
How Knight Don reads pages
To avoid inverting a page that is already dark, Knight Don briefly reads a page's background colour to judge whether it is light or dark. This check happens locally, in the moment, and only the resulting light or dark verdict is kept in the local cache described above. The page's actual content is never stored or transmitted.
Permissions and why they are needed
- Host access to the sites you visit: so the extension can apply its dark-mode styling to the page you are viewing. This is the core function of the extension.
- Storage: to save your settings and preferences on your device so they persist between sessions.
- Scripting: to apply dark mode to tabs that were already open when the extension is installed or updated, so you do not have to reload them. Only the extension's own bundled code is used.
Remote code
Knight Don does not download or run any remote or external code. All of its code is included in the extension package.
Data sharing and third parties
None. Because Knight Don does not collect or transmit data, there is nothing to share, sell, or transfer to any third party.
Children
Knight Don is suitable for users of all ages and collects no personal data from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the extension works in a way that affects this policy, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
