Frequently asked questions

How do I type Morse code to decode it?

Use dots (.) and dashes (-) or (−), with a space between each letter and a forward slash (/) or double space between words. For example: .... . .-.. .-.. --- decodes to HELLO.

What is WPM?

Words Per Minute — the standard measure of Morse code speed. 5 WPM is slow enough for beginners to follow; 20–25 WPM is a comfortable conversational speed; 35+ WPM is used by experienced operators.

What is the history of Morse code in the US?

Samuel Morse and Alfred Vail developed the original American Morse Code in the 1830s alongside the electric telegraph. International Morse Code, used today, was standardised in the 1850s and is the version this tool uses.

Is my text uploaded anywhere?
